Jack & Jill Pre-School - Gauteng

Jack & Jill Pre-School in Alabama, Klerksdorp, received books from ABCA. The school wanted to introduce the books to the kids (ages 2 to 6) by doing something special that they would enjoy and also instill a love for reading. The school decided to hold a pajama and spa day, so the kids would associate reading and gaining knowledge with pampering in a fun and safe environment. This mental health day would also be good for these kids who go through a lot.

The day was a great success and the kids loved reading the books. The kids had manicures, pedicures, healthy smoothies and lots of books to read! The principal, Cheryl Jacobs, said the kids were so entertained and engaged by the books. They couldn’t stop talking about the event to their parents and even asked their parents to buy them books to read at home!

The school says thank you to ABCA for the generous donation of books and for making possible this special day where beautiful memories were created. The school is trying to bring libraries and the love of reading back to the kids, especially after seeing what a big impact the books had on them.
